Michael Forest, the Star Trek actor who also starred in Roger Corman B-movies, dies aged 97

Michael Forest died on Wednesday at a seniors' facility in Sparks, Nevada, his friend James A. Brown announced. The North Dakota native also guest-starred in classic episodes of 'The Twilight Zone' and 'The Dick Van Dyke Show'. He made over 20 films in Spain, France and England, including '100 Rifles' with Raquel Welch.

Forest stood six-foot-three and weighed 215 pounds in his prime.

Corman first hired him from an acting class to play whip-cracking barbarian Zarko.

He began a new Corman war film one day after wrapping 'Beast From Haunted Cave'.
