Microsoft offers buyouts to 60,000 staff, a quarter of its workforce, just after its shares hit a RECORD high
Microsoft's 6,000 UK employees are among those eligible for the payouts as the tech giant channels funds into artificial intelligence. Staff at vice-president level and below in the US, Canada and India may also apply. Chief people officer Amy Coleman described the scheme to employees as 'new for us'. Quarterly results are scheduled for publication on Wednesday.
Xbox, Windows and Copilot teams qualify, while sales, marketing and data centres are excluded.
US staff who accept will get at least eight weeks' pay, and the deadline is 31 December.
It is Microsoft's second buyout this year, after 4,800 job cuts in July.
