Microsoft offers buyouts to 60,000 staff, more than a quarter of its workforce, as it pours money into AI
British workers face potential redundancy alongside colleagues in the US, Canada and India; those at level 70 or below in teams including Xbox, Windows and Copilot are eligible. Sales, marketing and data centre staff are not covered. The deadline for employees to opt in is early December, with departures taking effect at the year's end. Microsoft's stock reached a record peak this month, and the company reports results on Wednesday.
Chief people officer Amy Coleman admitted: 'The Voluntary Exit Offer is new for us.'
Microsoft already cut 4,800 jobs in July, many of them in its Xbox division.
The tech giant expects to spend $175 billion on AI infrastructure this year alone.
