Milei's chief adviser claims Britain has been 'colonised by Islam' as Falklands row grows

Santiago Caputo, the chief adviser to Argentine President Javier Milei, has cited the election of Labour MP Sagal Abdi-Wali to parliament as evidence of Britain's supposed Islamisation — and used it to argue Argentina must reclaim the Falkland Islands. Milei shared Caputo's post on X, amplifying claims that a Britain "colonised by Islam" poses a threat to Western influence in the South Atlantic.
Caputo wrote that Britain was once 'the cradle of modern western civilisation' but now poses a 'threat to the west.'
Abdi-Wali was elected MP for Holborn and St Pancras on 8 October, taking her oath on the Quran and defeating Green leader Zack Polanski.
Milei has already moved to criminalise executives in the Falklands' oil industry and threatened its vital fishing sector.
