Miley Cyrus broke down while revealing her final conversation with godmother Dolly Parton was about her new studio album, Bass Persuades, released on Friday. The singer, 33, told Apple Music presenter Zane Lowe she will still post a vinyl copy to Parton's address out of lifelong habit. Parton died on 25 August in Nashville, aged 80, after a brief battle with cancer.
Cyrus said Parton was always the first person she sent a vinyl to whenever a new record was pressed.
'I'm just trying to keep myself together,' Cyrus told Lowe, describing the moment she learned it was their last call.
Cyrus said Parton helped her understand how to 'have a persona and still be who you are' — wisdom she traced back to her Hannah Montana years.
