Minibus slams into Channel Tunnel shuttle train near Calais, injuring 19 and halting service

A minibus carrying HGV drivers flipped onto railway tracks at the Eurotunnel loading platform in Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais, on Thursday evening before being struck by a shuttle train. Nineteen people were injured in the collision, with two so severely hurt they required helicopter evacuation.

French authorities confirmed the crash took place on the French side of the tunnel, near Calais, and Eurotunnel services were halted.

Five people were reported seriously injured, though officials said no one's life appeared to be in danger.

The vehicle was carrying truck drivers when it reportedly flipped onto the tracks, triggering the collision with the stationary train.
