Ministers approve drilling at the Jackdaw gas field after four years of delay, but the Rosebank decision must wait
Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh signed off the field off Aberdeen on Wednesday, and campaigners branded the decision 'deeply disappointing'. Owner Adura says Jackdaw could supply around 6 per cent of UK North Sea gas production. Prime Minister Andy Burnham insists it will 'protect hundreds of jobs' while green targets stay intact. Chancellor John Healey used the announcement to launch a £2bn Energy Wealth Fund.
Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle raged that Fahnbulleh chose Aberdeen TV over MPs: 'This treatment is appalling.'
