Minneapolis police served a search warrant on an apartment reportedly shared by Adnan Hirsi, son of Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar, seizing firearms and ammunition during a Tuesday night operation. Neither Hirsi nor Omar has been implicated in any wrongdoing. His roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi, 22, was charged with a weapons offence, held at Hennepin County Jail and released the following night.

Officers first encountered Abdi during a traffic stop for driving without insurance or a licence, when a firearm was discovered in his impounded vehicle.

Court records indicate Abdi has accumulated at least ten prior convictions, among them a 2024 guilty plea to fleeing police at 108mph in St Paul.

The raid drew an outpouring of commentary on conservative social media, including a post from right-wing activist Benny Johnson calling it 'not a good look for Ilhan Omar'.
