Mississippi AG rules police shooting of one-year-old 'justified' though his mother says she lifted him up for officers to see

Kohen Wiley died in June while sitting on his mother Vellesiya Wiley's lap after officers responded to a reported theft of nappies and baby clothes from a Walmart in Senatobia. Attorney General Lynn Fitch released only a brief statement and has not published any body-camera footage. No charges have been filed against Wiley or the driver.

Family lawyer Benjamin Crump: 'If the footage supports the state's decision, release it.'

Crump says an independent autopsy found that Kohen was struck by a bullet entering from the side, not from the front.

The driver, Latoya Ferrell, suffered critical injuries when the officer opened fire into the vehicle.
