Vellesiya Wiley says she lifted her son Kohen into view from her lap to show Senatobia officers he was in the car seconds before he was struck by gunfire. Attorney General Lynn Fitch ruled on Monday that the force used was 'justified'. Driver Latoya Ferrell was critically wounded. Neither woman has been charged with stealing the baby clothes and nappies police allegedly sought at Walmart on 14 June.

No body-camera or car park CCTV footage of the shooting has been released.

Family lawyer Ben Crump: 'If the footage supports the state's decision, release it.'

An independent autopsy indicates the bullet struck Kohen from the side rather than the front, according to Crump.
