Alex Kwong, 31, along with his father and brother, bought a mincing machine, an electric chainsaw and a meat slicer in the days before Hong Kong influencer Abby Choi, 28, was reported missing in February 2023. Prosecutors told Hong Kong's High Court that the family turned a rented flat in Tai Po district into a makeshift butchery, where a neighbour reported hearing a chainsaw and a putrid stench. Choi had been posting Paris Fashion Week photographs just days before her death.

Her skull and ribs were found boiling in a carrot and vegetable soup, and her legs were discovered inside a refrigerator.

Prosecutors say Kwong Kau, 68, became 'extremely resentful' after Choi moved to sell a luxury flat, valued at HK$72m, where he had been living.

All three defendants have pleaded not guilty and, if convicted, could spend the rest of their lives in prison.
