After stabbing Amber O'Brien more than 60 times, Garner bought bleach, sponges and a tarpaulin and cleaned his flat before police were alerted by a relative he had confessed to.
Amber O'Brien, 33, had packed her bags and fled Stephan Garner's flat in Blackley, north Manchester, in the early hours of 18 April, but the 31-year-old pursued her, forced her back and killed her that morning. She was around nine weeks pregnant with twins. A post-mortem found defensive injuries, including a stab wound through her right hand.
Jo White, Senior Crown Prosecutor, said Stephan Garner took 'deliberate steps to cover his tracks' after the attack.
'Amber was murdered by her partner in a place where she should have felt safe,' said Jo White.
Senior Investigating Officer Duncan Thorpe hopes the verdict gives Amber O'Brien's family 'a sense of justice and closure'.
