Eric Idle, the Monty Python comedian who survived a secret battle with pancreatic cancer diagnosed in 2019, has cancelled his Australian and New Zealand speaking tour on doctors' orders.

Eric Idle pulled his 'An Evening of Idle Conversation' speaking tour after doctors ordered him not to travel, with November and December shows across Australia and New Zealand now cancelled entirely.

Idle survived a secret battle with pancreatic cancer diagnosed in 2019, receiving the all-clear in 2022 after early surgery saved his life.

He toured Britain last month and had been promoting his latest book, 'Idle in Provence: A Brief History Of Thyme', before the cancellation.

'Basically I shouldn't f***ing be here — every day is extra time for me,' Idle has said of his cancer survival.
