More rain is forecast for America's Four Corners region after 'once in a generation' floods force rooftop rescues and evacuations

Emergency crews carried out 20 rescues around Farmington and Shiprock, New Mexico, where 600 homes received evacuation orders and roughly 1,500 residents lost power. In southern Colorado, the San Juan River crested a full 3 feet above a 100-year flood mark set just a year ago. Four inches of rain fell on already saturated ground between Wednesday and Friday. San Juan County officials cautioned that further river rises lie ahead.

Standing water closed a two-mile stretch of US Highway 64 west of Shiprock.

Tornadoes stripped roofs off buildings in Arizona while dozens of homes in Utah were inundated by rain.

Two months of relentless rain had already broken the region's summer drought.
