Alfie Conway-Ryle has been found guilty at Croydon Crown Court of murdering 66-year-old William 'Owen' Ffrench, whose brain injuries left him too frail to be treated for lung cancer. CCTV caught Conway-Ryle telling a bystander he intended to kill Mr Ffrench in Southwark Park in June 2024, then stamping on his head more than 15 times in about 40 seconds as Mr Ffrench pleaded with him to stop.
Prosecutors rejected his plea to grievous bodily harm, charging attempted murder, then murder in February 2026.
After the attack, Conway-Ryle walked up to police to report an injured man, then bit an officer.
'You can rest easy now,' said his family; he became a father to them after his brother died.
