Mother issues firework safety warning after a faulty firework hit a swing set and left her girl, 6, 'scarred for life'

When the faulty firework struck the girl's neck and shoulder, her clothes ignited within seconds, prompting her family to rip off her dress and put her under a shower before covering the burns in cling film. She subsequently needed surgery for a skin graft, and for weeks her dressings had to be changed every other day.

Her mum says she will carry 'the physical and emotional effects of that night with her for the rest of her life.'

The family had specifically chosen low-noise fireworks to protect their pets and say they followed every instruction on the packaging.
