Mother of Florida girl, 11, who is charged over a school cafeteria beating insists her daughter is the real victim

The accused girl's mother says her 11-year-old daughter — an honour-roll student with perfect attendance — had endured weeks of relentless bullying before snapping in the cafeteria at Nautilus Middle School in Miami Beach. School officials failed to act despite repeated pleas, she claims, and the violence could have been prevented. The victim's mother has now filed a lawsuit against Miami-Dade County Public Schools over the assault.
The victim suffered a concussion after being punched more than 40 times before anyone intervened, and is too terrified to return to school.
The accused girl faces a second-degree felony aggravated battery charge — serious criminal exposure for an 11-year-old.
'She's not a criminal, she's a child,' the accused girl's mother told local TV, insisting her daughter acted in self-defence.
