Mother of hero who killed Oregon shooter reveals call moments later

Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old carpenter, phoned his mother after the attack and told her: "I couldn't save them all." He spotted the 16-year-old opening fire on a red truck outside Silver Rail Elementary in Bend and pulled into the car park, his .40-calibre pistol lawfully kept in his vehicle. Inside the school, he came upon a teacher struggling with the boy over his shotgun and shot the gunman several times.

Teacher Meghan Lambert, 25, and Rhoam Summer, five, were among the four people killed.

A staff member threw a phone at the gunman, then tackled him.
