Mother says daughter who died at 19 'didn't get a fighting chance' after doctors dismissed the teenager's 10lb tumour as 'hormonal'

Liberty York was told cancer was 'highly unlikely' while doctors blamed her symptoms on mastitis and an abscess. Months of appointments passed before angiosarcoma was found in her chest. By then it had reached her lymph nodes, and no specialist hospital had a bed free for treatment. Her mother Hannah York, 41, from Stratford-upon-Avon, says Liberty never got 'a fighting chance' and is backing a new campaign.

Liberty first fell ill in May 2024 with fatigue, nausea and unexplained breast symptoms.

After surgery, the aggressive cancer spread to her lungs in just six weeks.

Her mother says it 'baffles me' that doctors didn't rule out the most serious cause first.
