Motorcyclist in his 60s dies after crash on the M27 closes motorway between Whiteley and Portsmouth

A man in his 60s died at the scene after his white Triumph motorcycle was involved in a collision on the M27 eastbound carriageway at around 6:40am on Thursday. Hampshire police closed all Portsmouth-bound lanes between junction 9 at Whiteley and junction 12, trapping drivers within the closure for several hours. Tailbacks of up to 20 minutes built up on the approach, and traffic was diverted via the A27 through Fareham. The motorway was not expected to reopen until Friday afternoon.

Hampshire police have informed the motorcyclist's next of kin and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.

Anyone with relevant information should contact Hampshire police on 101, quoting reference 44260508127.
