MP hurls a chair and punches fly as Armenia's parliament erupts in a brawl over a 'Ministry of Sex' jibe

Taron Chakhoyan of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party sparked the mass brawl by mocking opposition leader Narek Karapetyan over a relative's podcast proposal to create a government 'Ministry of Sex to satisfy all women'. The session was broadcast live to thousands of Armenians, and Speaker Ruben Rubinyan refused to suspend or cut the feed, declaring: 'I want everyone to see all of this.'

Chakhoyan accused Karapetyan's 'entire family' of corruption, naming his uncle, father and cousin before the two men began scuffling on the floor.

A chair hurled towards Deputy Speaker Vahagn Aleksanyan finally halted the worst of the fighting, though brawls continued elsewhere in the chamber.

Several lawmakers were reported injured before order was restored in Armenia's National Assembly.
