MPs blast 'unambitious' NHS rollout that will give Mounjaro to just 6% of eligible patients over three years
More than a million Britons are now paying privately for weight-loss jabs, which the Commons Health and Social Care Committee says has created a 'two-tier system'. Only 220,000 of the 2.8 million eligible patients will get Mounjaro free over three years. Committee chair Layla Moran said people living with obesity are 'repeatedly failed'. MPs want an urgent rethink that uses digital providers.
Giving all 2.8 million eligible patients the jab at once would cost £15.2bn over five years.
Private patients are paying more than £300 a month, with some falling into debt as a result.
MPs are calling for action against the black market in unlicensed jabs sold online.
