MPs warn just 6% of eligible patients will get Mounjaro on the NHS, creating a 'two-tier system'

Desperate patients are being pushed onto the black market or into debt, paying upwards of £300 a month for private jabs, the Health and Social Care Committee warned. The NHS is giving the drug to only 220,000 people over three years, out of 2.8 million who qualify. Health chiefs slowed the rollout after estimating full access would cost £15.2 billion over five years. MPs branded the plan 'unambitious' and demanded an urgent rethink.
More than a million Britons already pay privately for jabs like Mounjaro and Wegovy.
Obesity costs the economy an estimated £75 billion a year, the committee said.
Bariatric surgery rates must at least double, MPs concluded.
