MPs will debate the Troubles Bill today as ministers seek to hand the attorney general the final say on prosecutions

The bill is weighed down by 156 government amendments published last week, more than a year after it first came before Parliament. Northern Ireland Secretary Sir Chris Bryant insists it will give grieving families answers. The DUP accuses ministers of trying to rush it through without proper scrutiny. Remaining Commons stages follow on Tuesday before it goes to the Lords.

Sinn Féin says the plans amount to a 'veterans' charter'.

The Northern Ireland Office says it will end 'rinse and repeat' duplicate investigations.
