MTV worker tells Brand rape trial he turned into a 'wild-eyed maniac' and tried to drag her into toilets
Russell Brand, who denies three counts of rape among seven charges, allegedly told one accuser she would "have to learn to enjoy it" — a phrase she said left her wondering: "Is this what abusers do?Russell Brand faces allegations spanning 1999 to 2009, with one accuser saying he transformed from "camp and friendly and effeminate to monster-like" moments before the alleged attack.
An MTV worker told Southwark Crown Court today that Russell Brand grabbed her forearm and hauled her towards the men's toilets in 2001, pleading "go on, come in with me" as she struggled to wrench herself free. She said Brand transformed instantly from "affable, jovial and friendly" into a "wild-eyed maniac", and she told him: "What are you doing? Are you mad? Let me go." Brand, 51, denies seven charges including rape and sexual assault against six women between 1999 and 2009.
A former flatmate, Andrew Dobson, told the court Brand was "very egotistical" and that sex was a "huge preoccupation" on most nights out.
An earlier accuser told the jury Brand changed from "camp and friendly" to "monster-like" before she was raped in a Bournemouth hotel room at the 1999 Labour Party conference.
