Multiple suitors table £30m bids for Poundland as owner eyes split sale of Irish Dealz arm

Gordon Brothers is racing to complete a Poundland sale before Christmas, with multiple bidders set to lodge formal offers on Friday for a "vastly significant portion" of the 600-store chain. The US investment firm acquired the retailer from Pepco for under £1 and is seeking £30m to recover an inherited shareholder loan. Among the interested parties are Modella Capital, the private equity firm behind TG Jones, and US discount giant Fortress, which owns Poundstretcher.

Gordon Brothers is also exploring a standalone sale of the 70 Irish stores trading as Dealz, after robust independent interest in that arm emerged separately.
