Mum, 61, is held on suspicion of murder after a Bridgend driver, 47, died of injuries UNRELATED to her crash

Armed officers swooped overnight on Ger-y-Nant, a sheltered retirement complex for over-60s with 13 flats, where the Bridgend man was detained. Eyewitness Darren Owen saw police bring a man out of the building at about 1am. The victim, from North Cornelly, hit a wall on Coity Road at 12.43pm on Monday. She has not yet been formally identified.

Residents were evacuated overnight and told to 'sign in and out' of their homes.

Owen watched armed police, drones and 'swat teams climbing on to the roof'.

Ch Supt Jason Rees called it a 'deeply distressing incident' as the investigation continues.
