Murder investigation launched after body of woman in her 70s is found in Liverpool's Stanley Park

Merseyside Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman's body was discovered in Stanley Park, Liverpool, with officers fearing she may have been dead for several weeks. A member of the public alerted police at around 17:25 BST on Friday, prompting a cordon to be thrown around the park. CCTV and witness inquiries are under way as detectives work to establish her identity. A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to take place to determine the cause of death.
The victim is believed to be a woman in her 70s, and police say they are working to formally identify her.
