Murder probe launched after woman's body found in Liverpool's Stanley Park 'for a number of weeks'

Merseyside Police have launched a murder investigation after a member of the public found a woman's body in the walled garden of Stanley Park, Liverpool, on Friday evening. The victim was a white woman in her 70s, roughly 5ft 2in tall, of slight build, with strawberry blonde hair, and was wearing a distinctive cerise pink Nike T-shirt. A post-mortem has been conducted, but the results are being withheld for operational reasons. Preliminary enquiries suggest the body may have lain there for several weeks.
Merseyside Police have checked missing persons records across the region and beyond but have so far been UNABLE TO IDENTIFY the woman.
Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson called on dog walkers and regular park visitors who noticed anything unusual in recent weeks to come forward without delay.
Forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are continuing, officers remain at the scene, and police are asking anyone with relevant information to get in touch.
