Murder probe launched after woman's body lay undiscovered for weeks in Liverpool's Stanley Park walled garden

Merseyside Police are investigating a murder after a woman's body was found in the walled garden of Stanley Park, Liverpool, believed to have lain there undiscovered for several weeks. The victim has not been identified, and officers are appealing for information from the public. Post-mortem results are being withheld for operational reasons while forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries continue.
The victim is described as a white woman in her 70s, around 5ft 2in tall, of slight build, with strawberry blonde hair, and was dressed in a cerise pink Nike T-shirt regarded as a distinctive item of clothing.
Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson says police have checked missing persons records across Merseyside and further afield but have yet to determine the woman's identity.
Officers are urging dog walkers and anyone else who has visited the walled garden section of the park in recent weeks and noticed anything out of the ordinary to come forward.
