Plymouth murder suspect is believed to have known the man found stabbed and partially inside a wheelie bin

Detectives have been given 36 more hours to question the suspect, a man in his 30s, after Plymouth magistrates granted a warrant on Friday. The victim, a man in his 50s, was found at 6.40am on Wednesday in a service lane off Grand Parade. He died at the scene and has not yet been formally identified. Detective Inspector Chris Lithgow said police are keeping 'an open mind' on motive.

Officers are working through CCTV, witness, house-to-house and search enquiries.

Roads remain closed in Eddystone Terrace and Garden Crescent.

Police have urged the public not to share footage online, warning it could jeopardise the case.
