Murdered Scots woman's mother pleads for news of baby granddaughter as US authorities leave her in 'legal limbo'

Jill Bunyan's daughter June was dismembered in her Los Angeles apartment in September last year, leaving Jill uncertain about who is caring for baby Regina — born just two months before June's death. Jonathan Renteria, June's husband, faces charges of murder, mutilation and child cruelty and has entered a not guilty plea. Jill, from Arran, says she did not learn officially about a court hearing that fell on the first anniversary of June's disappearance until nearly two weeks after it had taken place. She has launched a crowdfunding campaign to retain a lawyer to locate her granddaughter.

Renteria's parents are believed to have Regina, but Jill has been unable to confirm it and says no one will pick up the phone.

'It almost feels like nobody cares,' Jill said, adding the lack of communication has been 'as bad as losing June' itself.

June studied law at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen before moving to California in 2023; the case is not expected to conclude for at least another year.
