Musk pitched Trump on throttling Ukraine's Starlink and 'they were both in it', sources say

Elon Musk reportedly brought the idea of restricting Ukraine's Starshield military satellite service to President Donald Trump, who reportedly gave it his backing — a direct contradiction of both men's public statements. The cap on connection speeds, triggered when objects exceeded 100 mph, reportedly left Ukrainian interceptor drones too slow to reach Russian missiles during a deadly bombardment of Kyiv. A senior source put it plainly: "The reality is they were both in it."

Trump told reporters "it wasn't me, and I don't think it was Elon" — hours after the story first broke.

Musk had pointed the finger at the Pentagon and Trump on X, writing that Starshield limits are "decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS."

Four bipartisan senators including Susan Collins and John Cornyn have written to the Pentagon inspector general demanding a full investigation.
