Musk pumps $366m into Republican midterm fight as Democrats close in on Congress
Elon Musk has committed $366 million to keeping Republican control of Congress, surpassing the $290 million he gave to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
Elon Musk has become by far the largest known donor in the 2026 US midterm elections, pouring more than $366 million into Republican groups and his own America PAC this election cycle — already exceeding the $290 million he spent getting Trump elected in 2024. The biggest single recipient is the Senate Leadership Fund, which received $158 million, one of the largest political donations in American history. Democrats are expected to retake the House on 3 November, with Senate control rated a toss-up.
Musk had claimed last year he intended to "do a lot less" political spending — he has now spent more than he ever has.
Democrats in the House are calling for investigations into Musk's SpaceX government contracts and his time running the Department of Government Efficiency under Trump.
America PAC spokesperson Andrew Romeo warned that a Democrat win risks America becoming 'a socialist, woke and borderless country.'
