'My world collapsed in one second': Dad's grief after street racers killed his fiancée and four-year-old daughter

Car salesman Jasskamal Riyat, 37, was unanimously convicted at Leeds Crown Court of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving after dashcam footage revealed he had egged on Hardeep Bhachu to race at close to 90mph in a 40mph zone. Bhachu's white Audi TT RS mounted the pavement on Scott Hall Road, fatally striking Justyna Hulboj, 27, and her four-year-old daughter Lena Czepczor on January 16, 2023, as the two were walking to nursery. Riyat was warned that a substantial custodial sentence is inevitable when he appears for sentencing on October 26.
The men had been unknown to each other before falling into conversation at traffic lights, boasting about their respective cars' horsepower before accelerating away together at high speed.
Bhachu entered a guilty plea in June 2024 and remains on remand, awaiting sentencing together with Riyat.
Justyna's fiancé said: 'I said goodbye with the words I love you — I didn't know it would be the last time I saw them.'
