Mystery Lotto winner from Lewisham finally comes forward to claim £5.8m jackpot nearly a month after the draw

The ticket matched all six main numbers (22, 27, 38, 42, 47 and 59) in the Saturday 26 September draw, landing a prize of exactly £5,844,340. The National Lottery had put out an appeal just last week in search of the missing millionaire. Operator Allwyn will now run formal checks to validate the ticket before any cash is paid.

Allwyn's Andy Carter said 'now begins the exciting part' for the lucky winner.

Once the prize is paid, the winner alone will decide whether to go public.

Players can still check any ticket through the National Lottery app or online.
