Nearly 1,000 are arrested in France as masked mobs hurl bottles and fireworks at police after 410,000 march
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez warned the arrest tally would 'increase significantly' as night fell. In Marseille, barricades burned and two jewellery shops were looted. The violence left at least two people with serious injuries, including one in Toulouse who reportedly lost fingers in an explosion.
Last weekend's riots brought 2,700 arrests and left 500 businesses damaged across France.
Nuñez blamed 'ultra left' activists and criminal gangs for the evening violence.
Some of those detained were reportedly found in possession of AK-47 rifles and Scorpion submachine guns.
