Nearly 1,000 migrants cross the Channel in two days as footage shows them brawling for places on dinghies

A man was heard shouting 'I'll kill you' while brandishing a knife in waist-deep water as French rescue boats watched nearby.
The surge follows three weeks of near-zero crossings caused by high winds and rough seas, with 671 arriving Friday alone on nine boats.
Shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: 'The boats keep coming, the smugglers keep operating and Labour keeps making excuses.'
