Nearly 20,000 members have quit Zack Polanski's Green Party in under six months amid the 'Zionism is racism' backlash

The party's paid-up membership has dropped by 8 per cent since spring, costing the Greens £110,000 in annual income for every further 1 per cent who walk out. The 'Zionism is Racism' motion passed at the October 4 annual conference by 1,022 votes to 813, effectively calling for the abolition of Israel and advocating a Palestinian state in its place.
Cornwall council's Green leader Drew Creek defected to Labour, saying Polanski 'doubled down' rather than step back.
At least ten other Green councillors have defected over the motion before Creek's departure.
Polanski, who is Jewish, did not take part in the conference vote that triggered the exodus.
