A concerned neighbour let herself into a $1 million Lake Murray home on Boulder Lake Avenue and discovered a husband, wife and their 11-year-old daughter all dead, after noticing the girl had never left for school. Police confirmed a firearm was involved and are investigating the deaths as a potential murder-suicide. Homicide detectives say the surrounding community faces no ongoing threat.

The neighbour told police she had heard 'loud bangs' the previous night but raised the alarm only on Wednesday morning, when the child failed to appear for school.

The couple were found dead in a bedroom, while the 11-year-old girl was discovered deceased in a separate room, police officer Sarah Foster confirmed.

Pershing Middle School principal Kristy Aragon told families the girl was an eighth-grade student, with counsellors now on campus to support students and staff.
