Donald Trump, who is accused of playing Neil Young's 'Rockin' in the Free World' without a licence at the Youngstown rally, faces a $10m lawsuit Young's lawyers say is his second over the track.

Rock legend Neil Young, 80, has filed a $10m federal lawsuit against the Trump 47 Committee, accusing it of copyright infringement for playing 'Rockin' in the Free World' without a licence or his permission at a Youngstown, Ohio rally on 12 October. Young's lawyers say Trump was personally aware a licence was required and that Young would never grant one. The suit also notes the song has been played at numerous other Trump rallies.

Young sued a different Trump organisation over the same song in 2020 and settled shortly after, making this his second legal clash over the track.

The lawsuit describes the 1989 anthem as 'the opposite of everything Donald J Trump stands for', arguing its use implies Young endorses the president.

Young's team warn that his repeated use risks damaging Young's reputation and brand by falsely suggesting he is a Trump supporter.
