Netanyahu's coalition is set to lose its majority in Tuesday's Israeli election, a new poll of 4,000 voters suggests
Benjamin Netanyahu faces a deadlocked election on 27 October, with Arab parties holding enough seats to hand the opposition a majority if it joins forces with them.
A poll of 4,000 Israelis by Agam Labs and Hebrew University gives Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc only 52-54 seats, short of the 61 needed for a majority. In that poll Likud falls to 19 seats. A separate survey puts Gadi Eisenkot on 49 per cent to Netanyahu's 41, while Naftali Bennett leads him 45 to 43. Eisenkot, 66, whose son was killed in Gaza, calls the prime minister an 'anti-leader'.
Trump endorsed Netanyahu as a 'Great Warrior Prime Minister' only last Sunday.
Trump's own advisers reportedly believe a Netanyahu defeat could help Washington's agenda.
Tens of thousands of Israelis living abroad are expected to fly home to vote.
