Netanyahu vows to demolish Hebron homes house by house after Palestinian gunmen kill two Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint
Israeli bulldozers have already begun tearing down homes near the shooting site. Staff Sgt Ron Yonatan Roytman, 23, and Sgt Yuval Shai Svilem, 20, died in a 20-minute gun battle at Yehuda Junction. Benjamin Netanyahu said of the gunmen's neighbourhood: 'We will act to destroy this place.' Hebron is cordoned off and a full West Bank closure is being prepared before Tuesday's election.
The gunmen, Mohammad Jaaba and Firas Jaaba, both 27, were from the same Hebron family.
Netanyahu blamed Hamas, saying it planned 'a major attack aimed at murdering innocent civilians'.
A medic filmed the firefight, shouting: 'The terrorist keeps firing. We can't evacuate the wounded.'
