New York girl, 5, suffered heart and brain injuries before her mother locked her in a bedroom and called 911
Francis Cabello, 32, has been arraigned on second-degree murder charges and held without bail after telling a 911 dispatcher 'I killed my daughter' at their South Richmond Hill, Queens home on Wednesday evening. Prosecutors revealed that five-year-old Fabiana had sustained catastrophic damage to her heart, eyes, lungs and brain. Police placed the unconscious, bleeding child directly into a patrol car rather than wait for an ambulance, but she was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital. The Assistant District Attorney said Francis had made statements indicating not only that she had killed her daughter but that she had WANTED to kill her.
According to reports, Fabiana had been running around the home for several hours before her mother took her upstairs, shut them both inside a second-floor bedroom, and emerged alone 45 minutes later.
Grandfather Franklin Cabello wept outside court: 'As a family we feel mentally and physically destroyed — I forgive my daughter. She wasn't in her right mind.'
No weapons were found at the scene and the medical examiner has yet to formally determine the cause of death.
