New York judge rules Cornell's 'Jane Doe' can stay anonymous and warns online threats could bring federal charges

More than 25,000 posts on X claimed to name the woman within a week of one user urging followers to 'discover the Cornell girl'. In an eight-page ruling on Friday, Judge Phaedra Perry-Bond put her safety ahead of open court. None of the seven Chi Phi fraternity men she is suing objected. All deny wrongdoing, and none has been criminally charged.

She alleges she was drugged and gang-raped at the Chi Phi house in October 2024.

An unrelated man who shares a defendant's name was threatened after being wrongly served papers.

President Donald Trump has weighed in, saying the accused men 'won't get a fair shake'.
