Newbuild residents are divided over the 50ft unfinished rollercoaster that looms over their Nottingham homes

From the Newshound archive · first published 19 September 2026.

A testing facility for theme park rides in Sandford Lane, Hucknall, Nottingham has left neighbours of a newbuild estate split — some calling the towering structure an eyesore that ruins their views, others saying they would rather watch carts whizzing around the track than stare at a block of flats. The ride has stood in various states of completion for 18 months and draws urban explorers to the area. Jack Welsh, 45, says his family can see the 50ft structure from their living room. His wife Kirsty, 43, called it 'more fun to watch than the TV.'

Jack Welsh said he'd rather have the colossal ride next door than 'drug addicts hanging about.'
