Newquay mayor quits the Greens for Labour over the 'Zionism is racism' motion, saying Zack Polanski has 'doubled down'

Drew Creek, Mayor of Newquay and Green councillor for Trenance ward in Cornwall, crossed the floor to Labour and Co-operatives on Thursday, saying the party's conference motion declaring Zionism a form of racism "crossed a line" he could not accept. Creek had called on the Greens to step back from the position but said leader Zack Polanski "doubled down" instead. The defection is part of a wider crisis for Polanski's party, with Jewish News reporting defections, splits and a member exodus triggered by the Zionism stance.
Cornwall Labour group leader Kate Ewert said Creek's move "highlights the serious questions about Zack Polanski's leadership."
