NHS staff probed for accessing medical records of man mauled to death by tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust has launched an investigation after two staff members allegedly accessed or attempted to access William Chapman's medical records without a legitimate reason. Chapman, 24, was killed by a rare Amur tiger named Altai at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster last Saturday after entering the enclosure alone. The trust has reported the potential breach to the Information Commissioner's Office and says it will keep Chapman's family informed.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service's own proactive audit systems detected the suspected unauthorised access — not a whistleblower or external complaint.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park reopened its doors today, six days after the fatal attack, including the Land of the Tigers enclosure where Chapman died.
