Nicolas Cage, 62, revealed at L.A. Comic Con on 31 October that the September sinkhole at his $10.5 million Malibu beachfront mansion has forced him into hotels, even disrupting Halloween trick-or-treating with his four-year-old daughter August.
The sinkhole, roughly 60 feet wide and 25 feet deep, destroyed Cage's driveway and caused a gas leak, prompting Malibu to declare a local emergency.
Seven homes on Cage's street were red-tagged as unsafe, with a further 24 properties flagged over loss of safe vehicle access for residents and emergency services.
Cage told the Comic Con crowd he planned to mark Halloween by watching 'The Shining' — praising Kubrick as having 'directed the hell out of that movie'.
