Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, 42, slumped and bounced up and down in his seat on the Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia before he was flung out on Monday. His brother-in-law Joshua Nelson now asks whether the death could have been prevented. Riders an hour earlier say one seat's restraint kept unlocking. A parkgoer claims the ride was shut hours before over a wasp nest.

His last words to his niece were: 'This is my favorite ride.'

Eleven coasters across North America have now been halted pending safety checks.
